• Road closures with hourly amnesties from Tuesday 25 August

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will carry out essential overnight works on the A9 at South Doll Junction, for three nights from Tuesday 25 August 2026.

The works, which will see a new surface laid on the carriageway of the A9 at South Doll junction around two miles south of Brora, will take place between 19:00 and 06:00 from Tuesday 25 August until the morning of Friday 28 August.

To protect all road users, the A9 will be closed during working hours, with timed access amnesties at 20:00, 21:00, 22:00, 23:00, 00:00, 02:00 and 04:00, when vehicles will be able to pass through the site.

Traffic management will be removed outside of working hours to minimise disruption, with a temporary 30mph speed restriction remaining in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Design Manager, said: “This surfacing project on the A9, just south of Brora, will address existing defects and significantly improve the surface of the road.

“Our teams are committed to completing these works as quickly and safely as possible. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while these improvements are carried out.
