OVERNIGHT ROAD RESURFACING AT THREE LOCATIONS ON A830

June 26, 2025

  • Works begin on Sunday 13 July

  • Overnight road closures in place until Friday 25 July

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out overnight road resurfacing improvements at three locations on the A830, between Kinlocheil and Ranochan, starting Sunday 13 July.

Works will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night and are expected to be completed by the morning of Friday 25 July, with no works taking place on Friday or Saturday evenings.

To allow the works to be undertaken, and to ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, the A830 will be closed in both directions at the following locations:

  • Kinlocheil – 7pm on 13 July until 6am on 18 July
  • Loch Eilt – 7pm on 20 July until 6am on 23 July
  • East of Ranochan – 7pm on 23 July until 6am on 25 July

Amnesties will be offered at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am to allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site. Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times and public bus services will be accommodated.

Outwith working hours, traffic management will be removed, however a 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Access to properties and junctions within the closure will be maintained within the provided amnesty times. Road users exiting properties and junctions within the closure will be escorted whenever it is safe to do so.  Works will be planned in stages to minimise the impact on affected areas.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential road resurfacing works will fix existing defects in the road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users. Road safety will also be enhanced by upgrading road markings.

“We thank road users for their patience ahead of these improvements.”
