June 16, 2026

  • Patching works start on Monday 22 June

  • 10mph convoy operating under temporary lane closures

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out essential improvement works on the A9 dual carriageway south of Killiecrankie from Monday 22 June.

The patching works, aimed at enhancing road safety and conditions for motorists, will be carried out between the hours of 7pm and 6am, with completion expected by the morning of Wednesday 1 July, subject to weather conditions.

To protect the workforce, this section of the A9 will be subject to appropriate traffic management measures:

  • Phase 1 northbound dual carriageway: Monday 22 June until the morning of Wednesday 24 June – Temporary lane closures with 10mph convoy will be operated overnight
  • Phase 2 southbound dual carriageway: Wednesday 24 June until the morning of Friday 26 June – Temporary lane closures with 10mph convoy will be operated overnight
  • Phase 3 southbound transition from single to dual carriageway: Sunday 28 June until the morning of Wednesday 1 July – Temporary lane closures with two-way temporary traffic lights and 10mph convoy will be operated overnight

Traffic management measures will be removed outwith working hours, however, speed restrictions will remain in place during the day as traffic will be running on a temporary surface with no road markings.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Design Manager said: “These patching works will help restore the condition of the road surface on this section of the A9, improving driving conditions.

“Our teams are committed to completing these works safely and efficiently, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience.

“To minimise delays, we recommend that motorists plan their journeys in advance by consulting the Traffic Scotland website for real-time travel updates.”
