OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS ON THE SOUTHBOUND M9

May 25, 2023

  • Three overnight closures between Junctions 5 and 3

  • Works commence 5 June 2023

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 0.81 kilometres of the M9 southbound main carriageway between Junctions 5 and 3.

To allow the works to be carried out safely, the southbound M9 will be closed between Junctions 5 and 3 from 19:30 until 06:00 on the nights of 5, 6 and 7 June.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place from Junction 5 to Junction 3 via the A905, A904, Dean Road, A804. This diversion will add approximately eight minutes and 2.5 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the road quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M9.

“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
