OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS ON THE M9 NORTHBOUND, JUNCTIONS 5-6

April 1, 2021

  • Northbound carriageway closure Wednesday 14 April 2021

The northbound carriageway of the M9 between Junction 5 Cadgers Brae and Junction 6 Earls Gate will be closed from 19:30 until 06:00 on the night of Wednesday 14 April 2021. This is to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to renew approximately 0.25 kilometres of the road surface.

During the closure, a diversion route for northbound traffic will be signposted from M9 Junction 5 to M9 Junction 6, via the A9 and the A904. This diversion will add an estimated 5 minutes and 1.0 miles to affected journeys. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve safety and ride quality for motorists on this section of the M9.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience and encourage them to plan ahead by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
