OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS ON THE M9

  • Overnight carriageway closure 13 May 2024

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to complete essential road improvement works on the M9 Newbridge Southbound.

The works will take place on Monday 13 May, between the hours of 19:30 and 05:30.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and traveling public, the M9 southbound carriageway will be closed throughout the works. Traffic will be directed to leave the M9 prior to Newbridge junction toward Newbridge roundabout. It will then rejoin the M9 at junction 1 on slip to merge with the M9 main carriageway. The diversion is expected to add an additional 0.1 miles and one minute to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes or cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date travel information or X @trafficscotland.

All works are weather-dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
