Overnight resurfacing works are scheduled on the M876 motorway on the nights of 24 and 25 March.

The project will be managed by Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, and will involve renewing 205 metres of surfacing on the M876 westbound prior to Junction 2, and 182 metres of surfacing of the M876 eastbound after the split from the M80.

Overnight carriageway closures will be in place to allow the works to be carried out safely:

• On the night of Tuesday 24 March between 19:30 and 06:00, the westbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed between M9 Junction 8 (Kinnaird) and M876 Junction 2 (North Broomage), with a signed diversion route in place via the M9 northbound to Junction 9 (Pirnhall), and the M80 southbound. This will add approximately 5.1 miles and 5 minutes to journeys. Traffic wishing to reach M876 Junctions 1 and 2 can turn at M80 Junction 7 (Haggs) to join the M876 eastbound at Junction 8 (Bankhead).

• On the night of Wednesday 25 March between 19:30 and 06:00, the eastbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed between M80 Junction 8 (Bankhead) and M876 Junction 1 (Checkbar), with a signed diversion route in place via the M80 northbound to Junction 9 (Pirnhall), the M9 southbound to Junction 7 (Kinnaird House), and the M876 westbound. This will add approximately 16.6 miles and 17 minutes to journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South-East Network Manager, said “Overnight carriageway closures are essential to ensure the safety of both road users and our workforce while we renew the road surface

“We’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption, however we appreciate this may still cause inconvenience for some road users.

“If you need to use the M876 on the nights of 24 or 25 March, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.”

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
