OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS ON M876 EASTBOUND

February 13, 2023

  • Four nights of road closures begin on Thursday 16 February 2023

The M876 is set to benefit from 1.1km of resurfacing on the eastbound offslip at Junction 2.

Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, will complete the work on the eastbound offslip to create a smoother surface and safer journey for motorists travelling on this section off the M876.

Works will take place across four nights between 19:30 until 06:00 on Thursday 16, Friday 17, Monday 20, and Tuesday 21 February 2023.

A signed diversion route will be in place for M876 eastbound traffic. Traffic will continue on the M876 eastbound until Junction 3 (Bowtrees Interchange) where traffic will turn and head westbound along the M876 towards Junction 2 westbound offslip.

The diversion route will add approximately ten minutes and 8.7 miles to affected journeys.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “The safety of our roadworkers and of road users is our first priority. We are closing this section of the road to ensure that everybody is safe while the works take place. We appreciate that the closures may cause delays in some cases and thank the travelling public in advance for their patience.”

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

If you plan to travel on any of these dates, please allow some extra time for your journey

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
