Update on 19 August 2026: Due to delays elsewhere in the programme, work on the A9 north of Cromarty Bridge will now begin on Wednesday 26 August. See new information below.
On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will carry out essential surface improvements on the A9 North of the Cromarty Bridge, with works set to commence on Wednesday 26 August. Works will be carried out between 8pm and 6am each working night, ending on the morning of Monday 31 August. No work will take place on Friday or Saturday night.
To ensure the safety of both workers and road users, overnight lane closures will be in place with a convoy system to safely escort traffic through the work site.
Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.
Euan Burnett, BEAR Scotland’s North West Planned Maintenance Manager, said: “This crucial surfacing project on the A9 north of Cromarty Bridge will fix existing defects and significantly enhance the driving experience for all road users.
“Our teams are committed to executing these works efficiently and with safety as our top priority. We extend our gratitude to the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.”
