OVERNIGHT RESURFACING WORKS – A720 HERMISTON EB ONSLIP

September 30, 2022

  • Slip road closure for seven nights from Tuesday 11 October 2022

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland is planning to undertake a seven-night programme of overnight resurfacing and drainage works on the slip road onto the A720 Edinburgh City Bypass from Hermiston Gait Roundabout.

The works will take place between the hours of 20:30 and 06:00 over four nights from Tuesday 11 October to Friday 14 October and then over an additional three nights from Monday 17 October to Wednesday 19 October. No works are scheduled for Saturday or Sunday nights.

During these hours, the slip road will be closed with a diversion route in place via Gogar Roundabout, adding an estimated 2.2 miles and 5 minutes to affected journeys.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “If you are planning to use the A720 at night over the next two weeks, our advice is to check what restrictions will be in place and allow extra time for your journey if necessary.

“We thank road users and the local community for their patience and understanding.”

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
