Updated 31 October 2024: Due to changes in the programme, resurfacing on the A87 North of Broadford will now take place on Friday 8 November.
Road users travelling on the A87 will benefit from resurfacing works set to be carried out by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland. Works take place on Friday 8 November from 7pm until 7am on the morning of Saturday 9 November.
The works are required to address existing defects on the road surface and improve road markings. The resurfacing improvements will make the road more durable and resilient against inclement weather, as well as providing a safer road for road users.
Due to restricted road widths through this section of the A87, the carriageway will be closed in both directions to protect roadworkers and the travelling public. Amnesties will allow waiting vehicles to be escorted through the site at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, 12pm, 2am and 4am.
Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours however, a 30mph speed limit will remain in place, as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users as well as upgrading road markings to enhance road safety. We thank locals and road users for their patience ahead of these road improvements.”
