OVERNIGHT RESURFACING ON THE M876 WESTBOUND

June 25, 2021

  • One overnight road closure on Thursday 1 July 2021

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 0.9 kilometres of the westbound M876 at Junction 2 on the night of Thursday 1 July 2021.

For the safety of workers and road users, the westbound M876 will be closed between Junction 8 at the M9 spur and M80 Junction 8 from 19:30 until 06:00 on the night of 1 July.

During this closure, a signed diversion route will be in place directing westbound traffic via the M9 and M80. This diversion will add approximately six minutes and 5.3 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will improve the road quality and safety for motorists on this section of the M876.

“Road closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government guidance, are in place to protect teams and ensure they remain safe on site.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
