Overnight works to renew the road surface on the A985 at Cairneyhill Layby, west of Cairneyhill Roundabout, are set to take place on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 February between 19:30 and 06:30 each night.
The A985 between High Valleyfield and Cairneyhill will be closed during these hours, with a signed diversion route in place via the A977, A907 and A994. This is expected to add approximately 19 minutes and 9.8 miles to normal journey times.
On the night of Monday 23 February, temporary traffic lights will be in place at Cairneyhill Layby to allow traffic detector loops to be installed.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These surfacing improvements on the A985 at Cairneyhill Layby will address and repair defects in the road surface, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.
“It is essential for the safety of road users and the workforce that we close the road during the works, however we’ll do this overnight to minimise any disruption.
“If you need to use this route on the nights of 19 or 20 February, our advice is to plan ahead and allow extra time for the diversion.”
