OVERNIGHT RESURFACING ON A9 NORTH OF RAMSCRAIGS

July 17, 2025

  • Works start on Sunday 3 August

  • Full road closure between 7pm and 6am with amnesties in place

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out essential road resurfacing improvements on the A9 north of Ramscraigs from Sunday 3 August.

The project will take place between the hours of 7pm and 6am each night with all surfacing works anticipated to be completed by 6am on Friday 15 August, subject to weather conditions.

To protect roadworkers and motorists there will be a full road closure with amnesties in place. Vehicles will be held at either side of the work site until they can be escorted through the area safely during amnesty periods at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am. This section of the A9 will be open as normal outwith working hours to keep disruption to a minimum.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Euan Scott , BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This £530,000 investment from Transport Scotland will see a 846m stretch of carriageway resurfaced, fixing existing defects and greatly improving the surface for road users.

“We’ve taken steps to limit the overall impact of the project by carrying out the work overnight and providing amnesty periods for traffic to pass.

“Our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.trafficscotland.org, X at @trafficscotland or the new mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.

Materials removed from the existing carriageway will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.
