Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out overnight resurfacing works on the A68, north of Fala Dam, on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 August 2025.
Approximately 500m of carriageway will be resurfaced, 1.5 miles south of Pathhead, to create smoother and safer journeys for motorists.
To ensure the safety of roadworkers and the travelling public, a section of the A68 will be closed on the 14 and 15 of August between the hours of 19:30 and 06:00.
During the road closure, a signed diversion will be in place. Southbound traffic will be diverted off the A720 at Sheriffhall Roundabout and follow the A7 and B6458 to Fala Dam and vice-versa for northbound traffic. This diversion will add approximately 3.5 miles and 3 minutes to affected journeys.
Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times and access for local residents through the closure points will be maintained when it is safe to pass through the work area.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.
“We have planned the work to take place overnight to minimise disruption. We thank motorists for their understanding.”
Emergency services and other relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.
