  • Works begin Sunday 26 March for 11 nights
  • Night-time convoy with lane closures 7pm to 6am

Essential road improvements on the A9 near Pitlochry, between Dunfallandy and Loch Faskally, are set to start on Sunday 26 March 2023.

The project will see 1700m of road resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists.

The works will take place between 7pm and 6am and are due to be completed by 6am on Saturday 8 April. No works are planned on Friday and Saturday nights.

To ensure the safety of road workers and motorists, there will be a 10mph convoy system with lane closures and temporary traffic lights during working hours.

The road will be open outside working hours to keep disruption to a minimum, with a speed restriction of 30mph in place as traffic will be running over a temporary surface.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This surfacing project on the A9 will help address defects and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance. The project will also improve the road surface, creating a smoother ride for road users.

Traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists. Regrettably there will be some delays, but our teams will do all they can to complete the scheme as safely and quickly as possible, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
