August 31, 2022

  • Closure of turning lane on night of Wednesday 7 September 2022

The turning lane in the central reserve of the A1 at the ‘cement works’ junction near Dunbar will be closed for surfacing repairs on the night of Wednesday 7 September.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the works between 19:30 and 06:00.

During these hours, northbound traffic on the A1 will be unable to turn right onto the A1087 towards Dunbar, and traffic on the A1087 will be unable to turn right onto the A1 northbound.

Northbound traffic on the A1 wishing to join the A1087 will be directed to continue to the Spott roundabout and return via the A1 southbound to exit at the cement works junction.

Traffic wishing to join the A1 northbound from the A1087 will be directed to follow the A1 southbound to turn at Cockburnspath roundabout.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “This overnight closure is necessary for us to repair potholes in the road surface, improving safety for motorists using this junction.

“If you need to use this route on the night of Wednesday 7 September, please plan ahead and allow some extra time for your journey.”
