OVERNIGHT PATCHING WORKS ON M8 JUNCTION 4 WESTBOUND ON-SLIP

March 11, 2024

  • Overnight slip road closure 22 March 2024

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is to carry out patching of the road surface on the slip road onto the westbound M8 at Junction 4 East Whitburn.

To allow the works to be carried out safely, the slip road will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the night of 22 March.

A signed diversion route will be in place via the A801, A706, and B7066 to join the M8 westbound at Junction 4A Heartlands. This diversion will add approximately 5 minutes and 3.2 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These reactive patching works will maintain the road quality and safety for motorists using this section of the M8.

“Carriageway closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise any disruption. We thank motorists in advance for their patience.”

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.
