Essential upgrades to the off-slip at Junction 4 of the M8 eastbound carriageway will take place for one night on Monday 21 July.
Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, will carry out patching of the road surface to improve safety conditions for teams undertaking work, as well as delivering greater efficiencies for future maintenance operations.
To allow the work to be carried out safely, the eastbound off-slip at M8 Junction 4 will be closed between 8:30pm and 6:00am.
A signed diversion will be in place. Road users wishing to exit the M8 eastbound at Junction 4 will be directed to continue on the M8 for one junction to Junction 3A, where they can exit and rejoin the motorway westbound, then come off at Junction 4. This diversion will add a few minutes to journey times.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These works are essential to ensure the continued safe operation of the road network. By carrying them out overnight, we aim to minimise disruption while ensuring our teams can work safely.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot, or on X at @trafficscotland.
