OVERNIGHT LANE CLOSURES TO TAKE PLACE ON M8 AT HARTHILL FOR EIGHT WEEKS

August 23, 2022

  • Overnight lane closures 28 August – 21 October 2022

  • Harthill services will remain open

Three lanes will be closed overnight on the M8 at Harthill for eight weeks to allow upgrades to be made to the central reserve barrier.

The works will take place from Sunday, 28th August until Friday, 21st October. From Junction 5 until Harthill, lanes 1 and 2 going westbound and lane 2 eastbound will be closed overnight from 8:30pm until 6:00am.

The westbound closure will have a hard shoulder running and the eastbound closure will have one lane open – there will be no diversion.

The upgrades to the central reservation will improve the safety of motorists and bring the current system in line with current safety standards.

Tommy Deans, South East Network Manager at BEAR Scotland, said: “We thank motorists in advance for their patience.

“The traffic management planned is essential to the safety of our workforce and road users; however, we have planned this project to take place overnight to minimise disruption.”

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times. All relevant stakeholders have been informed of the changes in advance.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.trafficscotland.org for live travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.

Live traffic information is available from the Traffic Scotland website and Twitter account.
