OVERNIGHT INVESTIGATION WORKS ON A720

May 11, 2023

Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, is planning to undertake one night of overnight investigation works on the A720 eastbound.

The investigations will be completed on Friday 12 May 2023 at the Calder eastbound on slip between the hours of 20:30 and 06:30.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public it is necessary to close the Calder eastbound slip road during the works, with the A720 main line remaining open to traffic.

During this period of closure, a signed diversion route will be in place. Motorists will be diverted via the A720 Westbound to Gogar roundabout where they will join the A720 East bound. This will add an estimated 3.6 miles and six minutes to journey times.

The investigations are weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s Southeast Network Manager, said: “We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these necessary investigation works.”

“It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the slip road during these works, however, we’ve scheduled this during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.trafficscotland.org for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.”
