OVERNIGHT DRAINAGE WORKS ON M80 BANNOCKBURN INTERCHANGE TO RIVER CARRON SOUTHBOUND

July 1, 2022

Slip road closure Monday 4 July and Tuesday 5 July 2022

Overnight slip road closures will take place on the Southbound M80 near Bannockburn Interchange to allow for ongoing drainage improvement works on Monday 4 July and Tuesday 5 July 2022.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project, with work expected to be complete by the morning of Wednesday 6 July. Working hours will be between 19:30 and 06:00 each night.

For the safety of road workers and motorists, a slip road closure will be place on the M80 Southbound On-slip from Bannockburn Interchange (Junction 9) during this period, with access for emergency vehicles only.

A signed diversion route will be in place directing M80 traffic from Bannockburn Interchange (Junction 9) to Haggs (Junction 7) via the A872 and A803.  This will add an estimated 7 minutes to affected journeys.

Traffic management will be removed during the daytime, but a hard shoulder closure will remain in place.

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Materials removed from the existing drainages systems will be recycled using SEPA approved methods.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These ongoing works on the M80 will address defects in the road drainage system, through pipe repairs and renewing of filter drains, improving the overall highway drainage and creating safer journeys for motorists.”

“It is essential for the safety of road workers and motorists that we close this section of the carriageway while works are being carried out. We’ve scheduled work to take place overnight to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.trafficscotland.org for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
