  • Overnight eastbound carriageway closure on 23 June 2023

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to carry out one night of coring investigation works on the eastbound off-slip of the M8 at Junction 4 on the night of 23 June.

To allow these works to be carried out safely, the eastbound off-slip of the M8 at Junction 4 will be closed between 20:30 and 06:00.

A clearly signed diversion route will be in place from M8 Junction 4 eastbound. It will direct traffic to turn at Junction 3A, re-join the M8 westbound and leave at Junction 4, adding approximately 6.1 miles and seven minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the plans in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We thank motorists and the local community in advance for their patience while we carry out these essential investigations to allow us to carry out the future resurfacing works. We’ll do all we can to complete the work as quickly and safely as possible.”
