Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, will carry out overnight signage and lighting works on the M9 Junction 5 northbound on and off-slips for five nights.
The M9 Junction 5 northbound on-slip will be fully closed while works are undertaken, and a lane closure will be in place on the northbound off-slip, between 20:00 and 06:00, from Monday 11 August to Friday 15 August 2025.
A signposted diversion will direct traffic from the M9 Junction 5 Cadger’s Brae roundabout to the M9 Junction 4 Lathallan Interchange via the M9 southbound. This will add an estimated 3 miles and 4 minutes to affected journeys.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These signage and street lighting installations will improve the safety for motorists on this section of the trunk road network.
“It is essential for safety that we close the carriageway during these works, however we’ve scheduled them to be carried out during overnight hours to minimise potential disruption. We thank road users in advance for their understanding while our teams carry out these improvements.”
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to highlight the traffic management arrangements, and to minimise any inconvenience.
Live traffic information is available from the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot and on X at @trafficscotland.
All work are weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
