OVERNIGHT CLOSURE OF M8 J3 LIVINGSTON OFF-SLIP THIS WEEKEND

October 8, 2020

Rail bridge inspection on night of 10 Oct

The dedicated Livingston bound slip road off the westbound off-slip road at M8 Junction 3 will be closed overnight between 20:00 on Saturday 10 Oct to 06:00 0n Sunday 11 October. This is necessary to allow a special inspection of the nearby rail bridge, the M8S 3-3 10 Bathgate Rail structure, to be undertaken safely.

BEAR Scotland is completing the inspection to investigate the structure and address any defects during a possession of the railway line.

Traffic wishing to travel south on the A899 to Livingston will be diverted directly onto the Livingston East roundabout where they should take the first exit to join the A899 towards Livingston.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “Bear Scotland has to undertake this inspection safely. The proximity of the M8 Westbound off-slip to the site of the works means that it is necessary to close this slip road. It has been agreed that this will be done overnight at the weekend to minimise disruption.”

Consultation has been undertaken with West Lothian Council and Police Scotland about the requirement for an overnight closure of the slip road.
