BEAR Scotland has donated £9,521 to community causes in the second quarter of 2026.

Twenty-four different community groups and charities have benefited from BEAR’s generosity during April, May and June.

Charity of the year – CHAS

Support for BEAR’s national charity of the year Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) continued, with a BEAR team taking part in the Forth Bridges Raft Race at Port Edgar in Queensferry. They came second overall, raising £1,155 for the charity.

This quarter also saw BEAR staff offer voluntary expertise to CHAS. A team from BEAR worked hard to help CHAS renovate the outside spaces at Mina House to make them suitable for use as they prepare to temporarily move from Rachel House whilst major renovations take place. Football and nominated causes

BEAR also hosted its annual employee five-a-side football tournament in aid of SAMH, which raised £2,066.

Meanwhile three charities benefited from BEAR’s Regional Charity Initiative. Falkirk’s Mental Health Association, Highland Wildlife Rescue and Dundee Bairns each received £750 after being nominated by BEAR team members.

BEAR has committed to £1,000 sponsorship of match day tracksuits for Easthouses Lily Miners Welfare Football Club, which plays in the East of Scotland league and is close to our Bonnyrigg depot.

Additionally, BEAR donated Queensferry Crossing Tower Top Trips vouchers as raffle prizes at the Fife Volunteer Awards and provided support for Kirkliston and Dalgety Bay Gala Days by putting up and taking down their festive bunting.

Further boosts

A further nine charities and community groups received support from BEAR in the last three months including:

• £500 donated to the Armed Forces Recovery Centre Spring Ball.
• £250 donated towards the 21^st Craigalmond Beavers and Scouts group summer camp at Lake Windermere.
• £250 donated to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity in support of a group of staff who completed the Glasgow Kiltwalk.
• £250 donated to St John Scotland as they provided BEAR staff with life-saving skills training.
• £120 sponsorship of a BEAR golf team at Craigie Hill Golf Club raising money for Saints in the Community.
• £250 sponsorship of a member of staff taking part in a white-collar boxing event in support of SAMH.
• £250 sponsorship of Perth Parrots Floorball Club.
• £250 donated to Calum CRY, who are working with an operative to spread awareness of sudden cardiac deaths in young people.
• £150 sponsorship of a banner at Perth Highland Games.
