NORTH WEST TRUNK ROAD NETWORK READY FOR STORM AMY

October 3, 2025

Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland, is mobilised and ready to respond to issues that arise on the trunk road network due to Storm Amy, where it is safe to do so.

The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for wind, affecting the north and west of Scotland from 5pm on Friday, 3 October until 9pm on Saturday, 4 October.

The storm is expected to arrive on Friday afternoon and bring disruptive wet and windy conditions across much of the country into late Saturday.

Given the forecast conditions, all planned roadworks in the North West have been postponed for the coming days, with new programme dates to be shared in due course.

Ian Wilson, BEAR Scotland’s Severe Weather Manager, said:

“Storm Amy is expected to bring hazardous conditions across northern and western Scotland. Our teams will be fully mobilised to deal with any issues such as fallen trees, flooding or bridge closures. We urge the public to pay close attention to weather warnings and take these into account when considering travel.”
