NORTH WEST ROAD WORKS POSTPONED DUE TO STORM BOELO

October 23, 2026

BEAR Scotland has postponed a number of planned roadworks across the North West trunk road network ahead of Storm Boelo, which is forecast to bring high winds across Scotland.

The following works being undertaken by BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will not go ahead on Sunday 25 October:

  • A87 resurfacing between Invergarry and Bun Loyne
  • A889 North of Crubenmore Junction resurfacing (between Dalwhinnie and Catlodge) – one remaining night under traffic lights with overnight road closures to follow
  • A85 Glen Ogle Burn resurfacing
  • A82 south of Rannoch Moor resurfacing

Revised dates for the postponed schemes and others affected work will be communicated as soon as they are confirmed.

Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “Storm Boelo is expected to affect Scotland over the weekend, creating unsuitable conditions for roadworks. The decision has been taken to postpone these schemes to ensure the safety of both road users and roadworkers. The works will be rescheduled as soon as it is safe to do so.

“Meanwhile, our teams are ready to respond to any challenges caused by severe weather. We have additional operational teams, specialist landscaping crews and winter service drivers on standby, supported by our 24/7 Control Room and Severe Weather team.

“Specialist equipment, including flood response equipment, is strategically positioned across the network with tree clearance crews also on standby to provide support if required.”
