NEW £300,000 SURFACING IMPROVEMENT PROJECT PLANNED FOR FOUR LOCATIONS ON THE A830 BETWEEN BEASDALE AND CORPACH

August 13, 2021

Project begins Wednesday 18 August for up to three weeks

Four sections of the A830 between Beasdale and Corpach are set to benefit from an improved road surface as a £300,000 surfacing project gets underway next week.

The project will see four sections of the A830 resurfaced, including two sections in proximity to Polnish, a section at Corriebeg and a further section to the west of Braeside, providing approximately 2.5km of improvements to the route and creating smoother and safer journey for motorists.

The improvements begin on Wednesday 18 August and are expected to take place over three weeks, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure roadworkers as well as road users are kept safe, a 10mph convoy system will be in place each day between 7am and 7pm at each location.  No works will take place on Saturdays or Sunday to ensure disruption is kept to a minimum.

The intended programme of work is as follows:

  • A830 Polnish – Wednesday 18 August to Friday 20 August (three days)
  • A830 East of Polnish – Monday 23 August to Wednesday 25 August (three days)
  • A830 West of Braeside – Thursday 26 August to Monday 6 September (eight days, excluding Saturdays and Sundays)
  • A830 Corriebeg Bridge – Tuesday 7 September (one day)

The convoy system will be removed at each location outwith working hours, however a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “This £300,000 investment will upgrade the existing road surface and greatly improve the quality and safety of these sections of the A830 for road users.

“The 10mph convoy system is essential to ensure the safety of our teams and motorists, however we have taken steps to minimise disruption by avoiding works at the weekend.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance and would also encourage them to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date travel information.”
