BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, will carry out major resurfacing works on the A85 at two locations between St Fillans and Lochearnhead from Sunday 13 September.
Resurfacing works will take place between 7pm and 6am and will be completed by the morning of Friday 2 October. No works will take place on Friday or Saturday nights.
Resurfacing works west of St Fillans will take place under temporary traffic lights with a 10mph convoy system in place. These works will take place on the nights from Sunday 13 September to the morning of Friday 18 September and Thursday 1 October. Outwith working hours, all traffic management will be removed.
Overnight work east of Lochearnhead will take place from Sunday 20 September to the morning of Friday 25 September and Wednesday 30 September under full closure with amnesties at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 1am, 2am, 3am, 4am, and 5am to allow waiting cars to be escorted throughout the work site safely.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained throughout the works.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of works to make them aware of traffic management arrangements and to minimise inconvenience.
Euan Burnett, BEAR Scotland’s North West Planned Maintenance Manager, said: “These resurfacing works on the A85 will address existing defects in the road surface and replace road markings, improving the quality and safety of the route.
“To carry out the resurfacing safely, overnight road closures with amnesty periods are necessary. We thank the local community and road users in advance for their patience while we complete these improvements.”
The works are weather-dependent, and any significant changes or delays to the programme will be advertised.
