WEEKEND SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS AT M90 JUNCTION 4 KELTY NORTHBOUND OFF-SLIP POSTPONED UNTIL FRIDAY 27 NOVEMBER

Please be advised that surfacing improvements on the M90 Kelty northbound off-slip, outlined in the release below, have been postponed until next weekend.

The project had been programmed to get underway tonight (Friday 20 November) over one weekend; however, due to operational reasons the improvements will now begin at 7.30pm on Friday 27 November with work expected to be completed by 6.30am on Monday 30 November.

The traffic management arrangements for the re-programmed works will be as previously outlined, with a slip road closure in place throughout the duration of the project. Motorists wishing to use the off-slip will be diverted via the M90 northbound to M90 Junction 5 (Crook of Devon) then back onto the M90 southbound to Junction 4 (Kelty) southbound off-slip. For safety, temporary traffic lights will also be in place on the B914 / A909 throughout the weekend.

The M90 Kelty northbound off-slip will remain open as normal until the project gets underway from Friday 27 November.

All relevant stakeholders have been updated and have been advised of the revised date for this project.

£205,000 WEEKEND RESURFACING IMPROVEMENTS

M90 Junction 4 Kelty, northbound off-slip

Works start Friday 20 November for three days

  • Road closure in place throughout the weekend for safety

The M90 Kelty northbound off-slip is set to benefit from £205,000 worth of surfacing improvements with work set to take place next weekend.

The project will involve teams carrying out essential surfacing improvements to the slip road, ensuring the integrity and safety of the trunk road network at this location.

The project is scheduled to get underway from 7.30pm on Friday 20 November and is planned to take place over three days using 24-hour working, with all improvements expected to be completed by 6.30am on Monday 23 November.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, the slip road will be closed throughout the duration of the project.

Strict physical distancing protocols, in line with Scottish Government Covid-19 guidance, will be in place to ensure all site personnel remain safe once the project gets underway.  New safe operation procedures and risk assessments have also been developed to ensure teams are kept safe throughout the project.

Consultation has taken place with local residents and stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Ian Stewart, BEAR Scotland’s North East Representative, said: ““This £205,000 investment from Transport Scotland will greatly improve and strengthen this section of the M90, as well as create a smoother and safer journey for motorists.

“The traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists during this project. To help minimise delays as much as possible, we’ve planned the improvements to take place over one weekend using 24-hour working, and our teams will do all they can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.

“We thank motorists for their patience in advance while our teams carry out these essential improvements on the M90. We encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up to date traffic information and allow some extra time to reach their destination.”
