M876 RIVER CARRON BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINT REPLACEMENT

January 31, 2023

  • Overnight carriageway closures for five nights from Monday 20 February 2023

The westbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed for five nights beginning on Monday 20 February, to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out joint repairs on the bridge carrying the motorway over the River Carron and A883.

The westbound carriageway of the M876 will be closed between the off-slip and on-slip at Junction 1 Checkbar from 20:00 to 06.00 each night.

During this closure, westbound traffic will be diverted off the M876 at Junction 1 then immediately back onto the motorway via Checkbar Roundabout and the A8004.

The eastbound slip roads at Junction 1 will remain open.

Chris Tracey, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “Urgent repairs are required on the expansion joint on the eastbound carriageway of the M876 River Carron Bridge near Bonnybridge.

“The nature of the repairs means that a carriageway closure is essential for safety, however the diversion is a short one so we do not expect this to cause any significant delays.”
