M80 JUNCTION 9 NORTHBOUND OFF-SLIP CLOSURE FOR SURVEY

June 10, 2025

  • Overnight slip road closure Friday 20 June 2025

The slip road exiting the northbound M80 at Junction 9, Pirnhall, will be closed between 22:30 and 04:00 on the night of Friday 20 June, to allow a detailed survey of the road surface to be carried out.

A diversion route will be signposted via the M9 northbound to turn at Junction 10 Craigforth, before returning southbound to exit via the Junction 9 southbound off-slip.

Emergency vehicles will be given access through the works at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “In June 2024 this slip road was closed as a result of significant subsidence. Repair works involved excavating an area of approximately 1,000m2 to a depth of 1.5 metres and then reconstructing it with layers of stone and geotextiles, before a new sub-base and road surface was laid.

“We’ve been monitoring the slip road closely since it reopened to traffic in December to confirm there are no ongoing issues. This overnight closure will allow us to carry out a detailed survey on its overall performance.

“The work will be carried out overnight to minimise any disruption. We’re grateful to motorists for their understanding.”

Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland at www.traffic.gov.scot, or on X at @trafficscotland.

Consultation has been carried out with relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the works in advance.
