M8 TRAFFIC LOOP INSTALLATION WORKS

March 30, 2023

  • Overnight carriageway closure Tuesday, 25 April 2023

  • Prior to junction 4A eastbound

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to carry out traffic loop installation works on the M8 eastbound main carriageway prior to Junction 4A.

For the safety of workers and road users, the M8 Junction 5 to Junction 4A eastbound will be closed from 20:30 until 06:00 on the night of Tuesday, 25 April for one night.

A diversion route for eastbound traffic will be signposted via junction 5, the B7057 and the B7066 before re-joining the M8 eastbound at junction 4A. This will add an estimated six minutes and 0.5 miles to affected journeys.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “The traffic loops installations will ensure traffic data is accurately recorded on this section of the M8”

“Road closures are essential to ensure the safety of workers and road users, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption and will do all we can to complete the project as quickly as possible.”
