Traffic on the westbound M8 is currently restricted to a single lane between Junctions 4A and 5, as a safety precaution after a bridge over the motorway near Harthill Services was struck by an HGV.</p

The lane closure will remain in place until further notice while engineers assess the extent of the damage to the bridge.
