The M876 Junction 2 westbound off-slip will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 on the night of 23 October, for works to investigate the condition of the carriageway in advance of future resurfacing.
During this overnight closure, a signed diversion route will be in place. Diverted traffic will follow the M876 westbound to exit at Junction 1 then take the third exit at Checkbar Roundabout to return on the M876 eastbound and exit via the Junction 2 eastbound off-slip. This diversion will add approximately 6 minutes and 4 miles to journeys.
The project will be carried out by Transport Scotland’s operating company, BEAR Scotland.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said “Closing the slip road is essential to ensure the safety of both road users and our.
“We’ve planned the works to take place at night to minimise disruption as much as possible, however we understand this may still cause inconvenience for some road users.
“If you need to use this route during the works, our advice is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for the diversion.
“We thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”
Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.
