INVESTIGATION WORKS ON THE A1 SOUTHBOUND AT GLADSMUIR JUNCTION

August 11, 2022

  • Two overnight slip road closures Sunday 28 and Monday 29 August 2022

Overnight slip road closures will be in place on the A1 at Gladsmuir Junction on the nights of Sunday 28 and Monday 29 August.

This is to allow Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland to carry out drainage investigation works in advance of future resurfacing.

The southbound on-slip at Gladsmuir Junction will be closed between 19:30 and 06:00 on the nights of 28 and 29 August whilst the works are carried out.

Traffic wishing to join the A1 southbound at Gladsmuir Junction will be diverted to Oaktree Junction via the A199. This diversion will add approximately 0.3 miles and 1 minute to affected journeys.

Emergency services will be given access through the works at all times.

Relevant stakeholders have been consulted in advance to make them aware of the plans.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We need to close this slip road overnight for investigation works in advance of future resurfacing.

“The diversion is a short one, so we don’t expect these works to cause significant disruption.”
