INVESTIGATION WORKS AT M9 JUNCTION 1A EASTBOUND

July 2, 2025

  • Overnight eastbound carriageway closures 3 and 4 July 2025

  • Access maintained from M90 to Newbridge Roundabout and airport

The eastbound carriageway of the M9 will be closed at Junction 1A from 20:30 to 06:00 on the nights of Thursday 3 and Friday 4 July, for investigation work in advance of future resurfacing.

Access from the M90 southbound to M9 Junction 1 Newbridge Roundabout and Edinburgh Airport will be maintained via a single lane on the slip road.

A signed diversion route for eastbound traffic on the M9 will be in place via the M90 to turn at M90 Junction 1A Queensferry, returning south to re-join the M9 at Junction 1 Newbridge Roundabout. This will add approximately 8 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “We thank road users in advance for their patience while we carry out essential carriageway investigations in advance of future resurfacing works.

“We’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise disruption, however if you do need to use this route, please allow some extra time for your journey.”

Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders to make them aware of the works in advance.
