IMPROVEMENT WORKS ON A82 NORTH OF AUCH

October 27, 2026

  • Drainage repair works start on Monday 2 November with 24-hour traffic lights in place until Wednesday 18 November

  • Resurfacing works from Thursday 26 November under daytime convoy operation until Wednesday 9 December

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to carry out a programme of essential maintenance works on the A82 trunk road north of Auch from Monday 2 November.

The programme of works will include repairs to a culvert beneath the A82, associated footway and masonry repairs, fence-post installation on both sides of the carriageway and resurfacing works. All works will be undertaken Monday to Friday.

Drainage repair works will be carried out first between the hours of 8am and 5pm from Monday 2 November until Wednesday 18 November. To protect the safety of road users and the workforce, two-way temporary traffic lights will remain in place 24 hours a day throughout this phase of the works.

The programme will then continue with resurfacing works from Thursday 26 November until Wednesday 9 December. These works will take place between 7am and 7pm, with a 10mph convoy system and two-way temporary traffic lights in operation during working hours. Traffic management will be removed outwith working hours; however, a temporary 30mph speed limit will remain in place as vehicles will be travelling over a temporary road surface.

Access for emergency services will be maintained for the full duration of  the works.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Design Manager, said: “”BEAR Scotland has planned a programme of improvements on the A82 north of Auch to address both drainage and carriageway maintenance requirements.

“The drainage repair works are essential to safeguard the long-term structural integrity and resilience of the culvert, while also providing valuable information to support future maintenance requirements and inform any potential upgrade proposals.

“The resurfacing works will address existing defects in the carriageway, improving ride quality and safety for road users.

“By coordinating these improvements as part of a single programme of works, we can deliver multiple benefits for the route while helping to minimise future disruption.

“We thank all road users and the local community in advance for their patience while we carry out these necessary improvements.”
