Trunk road operating company BEAR Scotland is to replace around 2,580 metres of boundary fence on the Westbound and Eastbound M8 between Junction 5 and Junction 6, near Salsburgh and Duntilland, in an investment by Transport Scotland worth £230,000.
Fencing replacement work is planned to begin Monday 29 October and is expected to continue for eight to nine weeks. Work will take place during the day from Monday to Friday.
For the safety of workers and road users during the works, the hard shoulders on both the eastbound and westbound carriageways will be closed until works are completed.
To reduce the project’s environmental impact, all existing fencing materials will be recycled.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These upgrades to the boundary fence along the M8 will improve safety for both road users and local communities.
“We’ll do all we can to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible and thank the public in advance for their patience and understanding.”
