Traffic lights with footway diversion in place until Tuesday 22 September
BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, is set to install tactile paving on the A828 in Appin, from Wednesday 2 September.
The project will involve the installation of tactile paving at key pedestrian crossing points. The textured surface helps people with visual impairments to identify crossing locations and navigate the road network more safely and confidently.
Works will be carried out between 8am and 4:30pm, and are expected to be completed by Tuesday 22 September. No works are planned at weekends.
To ensure the safety of both the workforce and road users, temporary traffic lights will be in place during working hours. A footway closure and signed pedestrian diversion route will also be required for the duration of the works. All traffic management will be removed outwith working hours.
Access for emergency services and scheduled bus services will be maintained throughout the project.
Consultation has been undertaken with relevant stakeholders in advance of the works to raise awareness of the traffic management arrangements and minimise disruption wherever possible.
