ESSENTIAL SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS PLANNED FOR A9 OUSDALE AREA

  • 10mph convoy system in place on the 24 to 28 April 2023 and 2 May 2023, from 7am to 7pm

BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland’s operating company, is set to resurface 1045m of the A9 at Ousdale to improve drivers experience a smoother and safer journey, with works scheduled to take place over six days, from Monday 24 April to Tuesday 2 May 2023, between the hours of 7am and 7pm each day. No works will take place on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 April, or Monday 1 May 2023. All surfacing works are anticipated to be complete by 7pm on Tuesday 2 May 2023, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The convoy system will be removed outwith working hours, but a 30mph speed limit will be remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

This road surface improvement scheme on the A9 will help address defects and reduce the need for ongoing maintenance. The project will also improve the road surface, creating a smoother ride for road users.

“Traffic management is essential to ensure the safety of both roadworkers and motorists. Regrettably there will be some delays, but our teams will do all they can to complete the scheme as safely and quickly as possible, and we thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We have taken steps to limit the overall impact by carrying out the work overnight We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
