ESSENTIAL SURFACING IMPROVEMENTS FOR A82 LOCH LINNHE PICNIC AREA

November 30, 2022

  • Project to begin on Monday 12th December for three days.
  • 10mph convoy system in place on 12th, 13th and 14th December from 7am-7pm.

On behalf of Transport Scotland, BEAR Scotland will be carrying out essential surfacing improvements on the A82 at the Loch Linnhe picnic area.

The project will see 645 metres of the A82 resurfaced, creating a smoother and safer road for motorists. The project is scheduled to take three days to complete, commencing Monday 12th December, with works taking place between the hours of 7am and 7pm each day. All works are anticipated to be complete by 7pm Wednesday 14th December, subject to weather conditions.

To ensure the safety of roadworkers as well as motorists, a 10mph convoy system will be in place during working hours. The convoy system will be removed outside of working hours, but a 30mph speed limit will remain in place as traffic will be travelling over a temporary surface. Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the resurfacing improvements to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “These maintenance works on the A82 at Loch Linnhe picnic area will help address defects and greatly improve the surface for road users.

“The use of convoy traffic management during working hours is essential to ensure the safety of roadworkers and motorists.

“We thank the local community and road users for their patience in advance while we complete this project. We encourage motorists to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website for up-to-date travel information.”
