ESSENTIAL REPAIRS TO BRIDGE SPANNING M8

May 3, 2024

  • Overnight westbound carriageway closures 6 and 7 May 2024

The westbound M8 will be closed between Junctions 3A and 4 on the nights of 6 and 7 May, to allow essential concrete repairs on the underside of a bridge carrying the B792 over the motorway.

Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out work between 20:00 and 06:00 each night.

A diversion route for westbound traffic will be signposted from Junction 3A to Junction 4, via the A779, A7066 and A801.  This diversion is expected to add an estimated four minutes and one mile to affected journeys.

David Bishop, BEAR Scotland’s South East Unit Bridges Manager, said: “It’s important that we carry out these concrete repairs to avoid any risk to road users using the motorway underneath the bridge.

“We’ve scheduled the works at night to minimise any disruption, however if you do need to travel during these works our advice is to plan ahead and allow a few extra minutes for your journey.

“We thank road users in advance for their patience”.
