Updated 24 September 2025: Due to delays caused by poor weather conditions, the programme of works on the A830 between Lochailort and Glenfinnan has changed. Please find new dates below.
BEAR Scotland, working on behalf of Transport Scotland, will undertake overnight resurfacing works on the A830, between Lochailort and Glenfinnan, from Wednesday 6 August to the morning of Friday 26 September.
The works will take place each night between 7pm and 6am, excluding Friday and Saturday nights.
Within these hours, the A830 between Lochailort and Glenfinnan will be closed in both directions. Amnesties will be in place at 8pm, 9pm, 10pm, 11pm, midnight, 2am and 4am, allowing vehicles to be safely escorted through the site.
Access to properties and junctions within the closure area will be maintained during the provided amnesty times, and those looking to access will be escorted when safe to allow.
Emergency service vehicles will have full access throughout the working hours and public buses will be able to pass through in line with confirmed timetables, to maintain scheduled journeys.
Outside of these hours, traffic management will be removed, and a 30mph speed limit will be put in place to ensure the safety of traffic passing over a temporary surface.
Euan Scott, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative, said “These essential resurfacing works will upgrade the existing road surface, greatly improving the quality and safety for road users.
“We have planned the work to take place overnight to minimise disruption. We thank motorists for their understanding ahead of these road improvements.”
