ESSENTIAL OVERNIGHT INESTIGATIONS REQUIRED ON A9 RAIGMORE INTERCHANGE IN INVERNESS

November 11, 2021

  • Project to take place on Thursday 11 November

An essential project that will see teams conduct investigations on vital bridge joint components associated with the north and south overbridges at A9 Raigmore Interchange will take place tonight, Thursday 11 November.

It is crucial that these investigations are carried out in order future maintenance needs for the structure are identified, ensuring it remains safe for years to come.

Inspections will be carried out on Thursday 11 November between 9pm and midnight. To allow use of a bridge access vehicle, a closure of the A96 roundabout will be in place during working hours. A signed diversion will be in place via the A9 Longman Roundabout and the B9006 Inshes Interchange.

Access through the works site for emergency services will be maintained at all times.

Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s North West Representative said: “This essential investigation will allow our teams to assess future maintenance requirements for these overbridges at the A9 Raigmore Interchange.

“The closure on the A96 is essential to ensure the safety of the workforce and motorists, however we’ve planned for the investigations to be carried during a three hour period that is outwith the evening peak travel time to help minimise disruption to road users.

“As ever, we’ll do all we can to ensure that this project is completed as quickly and as safely as possible.”
