Overnight works to perform maintenance on electronic signs on the slip road exiting the eastbound A720 Edinburgh City Bypass at Lasswade Junction will take place between 20:30 and 06:00 on the night of Monday 2 June.
For the safety of workers and road users, the slip road will be closed during the works, with a diversion route suitable for trunk road traffic signposted from the A720 Gilmerton Junction to Lasswade Road via the A772 and Gilmerton Station Road, adding an estimated 2.5 miles and 4 minutes to affected journeys.
Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland will carry out the project.
Consultation has taken place with relevant stakeholders in advance of these works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements.
Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “It is essential for safety that we close this slip road while our operatives carry out maintenance to electronic signs, however we’ve scheduled the works overnight to minimise any disruption.
“We thank road users in advance for their patience and understanding.”
Live traffic information is available from the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot and on X at @trafficscotland.
All works are weather dependent and subject to postponement or cancellation in the event of adverse conditions.
