Essential trunk road works will continue across the North West Unit on polling day, Thursday 7 May
BEAR Scotland provides this update to all road users on the works taking place on North West trunk roads during the local election period, to help people plan their journeys and access polling stations safely.
A number of essential maintenance and improvement works will continue on Thursday 7 May. These works are necessary to maintain safety and resilience of the trunk road network and traffic management arrangements have been planned to minimise disruption as much as possible.
Voters are encouraged to allow extra journey time, particularly when travelling to or from polling stations. Real time journey information is available from Traffic Scotland on www.traffic.gov.scot, X @trafficscotland or on the mobile site my.trafficscotland.org.
Key locations with traffic management in place include:

- Raigmore Interchange – traffic signal works with lane closure
- Drumochter (southbound) – retaining wall repairs with lane closure
- Dalreoch to Dalnamein – drainage works with daytime traffic lights
- Helmsdale – bridge works with 24-hour traffic lights
- Golspie – pedestrian crossing resurfacing requiring evening and overnight road closure with amnesties, with temporary signage provided to polling station
- Rosskeen to Tomich – road resurfacing with evening and overnight convoy
- Achavandra (north of Evelix) – road patching using daytime stop/go signs
- Lothmore – road patching using daytime stop/go signs
- Crofts of Benchilet (north of Latheron) – road patching using daytime stop/go signs
- Dunbeath – road patching using daytime stop/go signs
- Cromarty Bridge – bridge works requiring evening and overnight convoy

Access for emergency services will be maintained at all times, and efforts will be made to remove traffic management early should works be completed sooner than expected.
