DRAINAGE REPAIRS ON THE A85 AT METHVEN

April 7, 2026

  • Works start on Monday 13 April

  • Lane closure with two-way traffic lights in place until Monday 18 May

BEAR Scotland, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are set to carry out drainage repairs on the A85 in Methven from Monday 13 April.

Works will be carried out between the hours of 9:30am and 4pm, and are expected to be completed by Monday 18 May.

To ensure the safety of the workforce and members of the travelling public, a lane closure will be in place with temporary two-way traffic lights during working hours. A parking restriction will be in place along the edge of the A85 trunk road within the working zone.

Barriers may need to be left in place on the footway and at the edge of the road overnight due to open excavations in the road surface. Although this may narrow the footpath, it will remain open and two-way traffic will still be able to pass.

Consultation has taken place with all relevant stakeholders in advance of the drainage works to make them aware of the traffic management arrangements and to minimise any inconvenience.

Steve Taylor, BEAR Scotland’s North West Planned Maintenance Manager said: “This drainage repair on the A85 at Methven will fix existing defects affecting the flow of water and reduce flooding on the carriageway.

“Our teams will carry out these works quickly, with safety as our top priority. We thank the local community and road users for their patience while we complete the improvements.”
