DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS ON THE M876 JUNCTION 1 WESTBOUND ON-SLIP

March 4, 2022

  • Five overnight closures Monday 7 March to Friday 11 March

Motorists using the slip road onto the westbound M876 at Junction 1 are set to benefit from improved drainage infrastructure, with Transport Scotland’s operating company BEAR Scotland planning overnight works over five nights beginning on Monday 7 March.

For the safety of workers and road users during these works, the Junction 1 westbound on-slip and lane one of the M876 westbound will be closed from 19:30 until 06:00 each night from Monday 7 March to Friday 11 March.

A diversion route for traffic wishing to join the M876 westbound will be signposted via the A883 and A803 to M80 Junction 7, adding an estimated 5 minutes and 2.7 miles to affected journeys.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times. Access for local residents through Larbert Road and the A8004 will remain open.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

Tommy Deans, BEAR Scotland’s South East Network Manager, said: “These drainage improvements will improve safety for motorists on this section of the M876.

“Road closures are essential for safety, however we’ve planned the works to take place overnight to minimise disruption.”
